Let's be indie-pretty, and rule the world. (sábado, 14 de abril de 2007),
Stephanie's birthday thang today. Went to twin's house early for temporary hotness treatment and to do some art coursework.
We went to some viet buffet place, where fly proclaimed my utter beauty (hurhurr) and there was some familiar vietamese tauhui like dessert (wait taohui's the bland tofu stuff right).
We went to lush after it was booooooorrrrriiiiiingggg omg. And I have gone off smirnoffs for life. They're just too limey.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS max the original perpetrator of the whole Handsome name-calling episode has retracted his flippant statement! And, like. I've proof. :)

I had a thought. Looks are like music. There are lots of types, some an acquired taste (classical music), some so catchy you instantly start tapping your feet to the beat(britney-style bubblegum pop!) and some, you cannot differentiate between (vietnamese love ballads). Like mainstream and indie music, there are mainstream and indie looks. Everyone recognises mainstream beauty. It's easy to swallow, easy to spot. It's been with every single really pretty pop princess-diva-boyband member you've seen on mtv. Beyonce? Check. Justin T? Check. And more locally, Boa. Stephanie Sun. Jay Chou, Ayumi Hamasaki, Bryan from wgb (ehehehe <333).
Indie beauty, on the other hand. Not everyone gets it. you don't see it right away. It takes time to show itself. Mm I can't think of anyone from the world of showbizzz. Maybe... Amy Lee of Evanescence fame?
Indie lyrics are full of hidden meaning apart from their literal meaning. Mainstream's vastly more blunt/straightfoward. Indie titles are cryptic and require understanding said lyrics while mainstream titles are usally the most repeated word in the song. Compare Blah Blah Blah by Say Hi To Your Mom with Greenday's Wake Me Up When September Ends.
the longer you stare at/listen to them, the prettier they become/more profound they sound!
Now I honestly don't know whether it'd be better to be mainstream- or indie-pretty, but in a world where you can become mainstream-pretty with the flick of a scalpel (60% of koreans, da eun exclaims in a baffled fashion), remaining indie may just be the only way to set yourself apart.
In other news, I can play both i bet that you look good on the dancefloor solos at an okay-speed! Hurrah!
Andandand. It has been checked and confirmed. This year's chia-ren festbonanzagalaextravaganzaboom! theme shall be 'If we were fishermen, we'd be good ones'. Shirt design in progress.
