Well, the body's been cremated and we've had a proper reunion dinner. Time to stop mourning I guess. We're collecting the ashes tomorrow and auntie laybee's going to bring ahkong's ashes cross-country into Singapore by herself for some bonding time.

My ahkong's had quite an interesting life! He was born in Singapore, and when he was a couple years old, his prc parents brought him back to China. He moved back to Singapore in his teens and became a sailor, somehow managing to meet, woo and marry my grandmother before WW2 struck. He then escaped to Terengganu, where he reared my dad and uncle and aunt.
Though apparently he wasn't a very good husband, gambling alot of moolah on get-rich-quick schemes that never turned out well. Poor mama had to support them both with her l33t teaching!

I think Adrian's wife Hsiao Chien is the coolest lor. She dresses so well and she's a doctor and she's down-to-earth and she's kinda regal-looking! AND she's a good momma, too. I want to dress like her when I'm old!
